During the week beginning 16 May, Mr Eduardo Puig de la Bellacasa, head of the CEFAS American International Department, travelled to Peru and Ecuador to meet with politicians and journalists, as well as representatives of think tanks and universities. The various meetings were aimed at presenting our project to become a support for conservative think tanks in Latin America.
With the aim of strengthening relations between Spain and Latin America, Mr Puig de la Bellacasa met in Lima with representatives of the political parties Renovación Popular, Fuerza Popular and APRA, and the think tanks Peru Tank, CANE and CIPP. He also met with lawyers, activists and journalists and was a guest of the programme “Let’s Talk about Public Policy” on the Regional Communication Network, presented by Mr Gustavo Nakamura.
Our Head of International Affairs in America also visited the University of Lima, where he met with the Vice Rector, Ms Patricia Stuart, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr Germán Ramírez Gastón, among others. During the meeting, Mr Puig de la Bellacasa presented the leadership courses given by CEFAS and the Youth Congress held at the beginning of April.
In Quito, Mr Puig de la Bellacasa met with representatives of the Christian Social Party and the CREO party and its think tank, Ecuador Libre (Free Ecuador). During these meetings, the participants showed their interest in sharing best practices in public policy and their commitment to the cultural battle against gender ideology and historical revisionism.
At the Centre for Studies, Training and Social Analysis, CEU-CEFAS, we have shown our interest in the political, economic and social situation in Peru and Ecuador. And in this regard, we are committed to sharing best practices in public policy with conservative think tanks in these countries, as well as supporting each other to combat the new ideologies that are being introduced by left-wing parties and that are contrary to religious, educational or business freedom.
In the first CEU-CEFAS report we address the challenges of the new strategic configuration and reflect on the role that Western powers want to play in it.
