The President of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, Alfonso Bullón de Mendoza, attended the swearing-in ceremony of José Antonio Kast as the new President of Chile, together with the Director of CEU CEFAS, Elio A. Gallego, and its Executive Director, Fernando Nistal. The institutional ceremony was held at the National Congress and brought together more than a thousand international guests.

The swearing-in of Chile’s new president marks the beginning of a new political chapter in the country, following his victory in the December 2025 presidential elections. During the official ceremony, Kast took the oath of office before the President of the Senate and received the presidential sash, formally assuming the presidency from the outgoing leader, Gabriel Boric.
The event brought together a wide range of international authorities and institutional representatives. Among those in attendance were King Felipe VI of Spain and several heads of state from across Hispanic American countries, along with political leaders, academics, and members of civil society.
The presence of the President of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation brings to light the institution’s commitment in strengthening its academic, cultural, and social ties with Hispanic America, a region with which it maintains close collaboration through numerous institutions and think tanks.
The meeting also helped to reinforce our relationship with Chile’s new president, who previously took part as a speaker at the 24th Catholics and Public Life Congress, organized by the Catholic Association of Propagandists. At the congress, he delivered a lecture titled “The Catholic Faith and the Hispanic Legacy in Today’s America: Risks and Strengths”.
Additionally, during their visit to Chile, the President of the Foundation and the directors of CEU CEFAS held several meetings. They met with institutional and academic representatives to explore new opportunities for collaboration between Spanish and Chilean universities.
