
The Executive Director of CEU CEFAS, Fernando Nistal, attended the Margaret Thatcher MMXXV Awards, “The Night of European Conservatism,” an event organized by New Direction to mark the centenary of the birth of the Iron Lady and held in Rome.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni attended the gala to receive the Margaret Thatcher Award in recognition of her effort and dedication. In her speech, Meloni highlighted the political and moral legacy left by the Iron Lady, underscoring the influence her figure continues to exert on public debate and on the international conservative tradition: “She is a woman who left a profound mark on the 20th century and went down in history for the courage of her ideas.”

Other award recipients at the gala included The Spectator editor Michael Gove; the renowned philosopher and historian Rémi Brague; one of the greatest champions in the history of golf, Jack Nicklaus; the leader of the Belarusian opposition and an international symbol of the fight for democracy, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya; the CEO and co-founder of Angel, Neal Harmon; and actor Neal McDonough.
The aim of the gala is to recognize individuals who uphold conservative ideas and work to defend freedom around the world, seeking to generate a real impact in each of their respective fields.
