We started the V edition of the Expert Degree in Leadership and Civic Engagement in which our students will be trained in matters of politics, philosophy, economics and communication. In this first meeting they have been able to share a lunch-colloquium with the first guest, the Hungarian Ambassador to Spain, Katalin Tóth.
Our students were able to listen and talk with Tóth, who explained Hungary’s position in European geopolitics, as well as addressed the country’s most important objectives in Europe. During her speech, the ambassador pointed out the situation of economic fragility in which the European Union finds itself due to the persistence of the confrontation between Ukraine and Russia and assured the need to open its market outside its borders in order to strengthen itself: “Europe is very weakened and is losing a lot of economic weight in the face of international actors”, she affirmed. She also pointed out that the creation of these economic alliances will give the European Union greater security and importance at a global level.

Tóth also addressed the issue of migration as one of the main issues of current politics. For the ambassador, Europe’s role cannot be to stand on the sidelines and remedy the consequences of the problem, but must address the causes in order to truly tackle the situation: “We must focus outside Europe, on cooperation outside our borders and not think that we can solve it alone”, she said.
