On November 13, we presented the book from the CEU CEFAS Collection, A New Era: The Rebirth of the Right, by the president of the most important conservative think tank in the United States, The Heritage Foundation, Kevin D. Roberts. The book features a foreword by the Vice President of the United States, J. D. Vance, and is published by CEU Ediciones.
The event began with a portrait of the author delivered by the president of the Disenso Foundation, Santiago Abascal, who highlighted the Heritage Foundation president’s commitment to defending conservative ideas and, in this regard, noted that Roberts “is not willing to be just another spectator to the decline of the West.”

In relation to the political context we are living in, Abascal stated that both in the United States and in Spain and Europe the diagnosis regarding the advance of the left is similar, and he emphasized the need to gradually dismantle these structures: “After taking control of culture, the left has managed to take over companies and institutions for the propaganda of that ideology,” he said. Finally, the president of the Disenso Foundation argued for the need to “recover common sense, goodness, truth, and beauty in political life.”
This was followed by a panel discussion featuring Kevin Roberts alongside the Head of International Relations at CEU CEFAS, Jorge Soley; El Debate journalist Edgardo Pinell; and the book’s translator, Aurora Pimentel.
Roberts began his remarks by explaining that the reason he wrote the book was “to remind everyone that there is an intention to destroy,” but that we must offer hope. In this regard, he stressed the need to create a form of politics that reflects our fundamental pillars: family, human dignity, and national security. “We must provide infrastructure and living conditions that are favorable for our citizens,” he stated.

The president of the Heritage Foundation also stated that the most important institutions in the United States have fallen into decline and, in response, conveyed that “new institutions with the ethics of true leaders” are needed, along with “a revitalization of the understanding of our heritage.”
Roberts also addressed the issue of globalism as an ideology that is incompatible with our ideas, as it suggests that there is something more important than the interests of a nation. In this regard, he stated: “The Trump administration seeks a renewal of these ideas, because we cannot sell our country to globalism.”

The president of the Heritage Foundation noted that “sometimes we look at the data, and it says a great deal: families who dine together in the United States have declined dramatically.” In response, he stated that at the Heritage Foundation “we seek to create a genuine form of politics in which people can lead abundant lives.” In this regard, he emphasized the importance of strengthening our institutions: “We must strengthen religion, because we are replacing religion with politics, and that is a very dangerous spiral.” Finally, Roberts called for “refounding institutions and putting people first.”
The presentation concluded with remarks by the president of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, Alfonso Bullón de Mendoza, who thanked Roberts for his commitment to defending Western values.
