CEU CEFAS has participated in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Heritage Foundation in Washington D. C. The outstanding event that took place on April 20th and 21st overlooking the Potomac River was attended on behalf of CEU CEFAS by our head of the international area, Mr. Eduardo Puig de la Bellacasa.
The Heritage Foundation was founded in 1973 with the aim of developing and proposing policy solutions to improve the lives of Americans. Among its proposals and objectives are defending the right of parents to make educational decisions for their children, guaranteeing free and fair elections, reducing crime, reducing public spending and inflation, countering the threat of communism in the world, protecting the right to life of the unborn and protecting the natural family.
The Heritage Foundation, with more than half a million members, is the world’s largest conservative think tank. It is dedicated to advancing policies and proposals through research and analysis to build, as its mission states, “an America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity, and civil society flourish”.
To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they invited different allied and friendly organisations from all over the world, such as CEU CEFAS in Spain. They organised a summit and a gala where they worked to prepare and propose a new American political scenario. The event included a welcome reception at George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Virginia, and an evening gala at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland.
Heritage President Dr. Kevin Roberts, the organisation’s seventh president, in his welcoming remarks, after honouring the foundation’s founders and supporters, outlined Heritage’s upcoming work plan, stating, “It’s time to develop an ambitious and bold conservative agenda to rescue this country from an emboldened progressive left. Everything we do is strategically focused on winning battles for the everyday American that our leaders in Washington, DC have forgotten”. At the heart of Heritage’s conservative agenda is what they call “the political bible”, a publication entitled: Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise. More than 365 academics from across the country and the conservative movement have participated in it. The event on Friday night featured Fox News talk show host Tucker.
