
Fernando Nistal, CEU-CEFAS CEO, and María San Gil the Director of the CEU-CEFAS Observatory for Victims of Terrorism, attended the 7th Transatlantic Summit, “Freedom of Expression vs. Regulated Expression: Strengthening the Pillars of Democracy,” organized by the Political Network for Values in collaboration with the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) and Patriots for Europe (PfE). The event brought together more than 250 political and civic leaders from 36 countries, who emphasized the urgent need to move forward together in defense of freedom and common sense.


The summit featured the presence of Chile’s president-elect, José Antonio Kast, who highlighted the importance of protecting bith security and freedom: “Defending security is not authoritarianism, defending freedom is not extremism”, he stated. Kast further added: “Defending freedom is an act of courage, defending human dignity is a forward-thinking rebellion, and defending true democracy is a historic responsibility.”
Other notable speaker included Mateusz Morawiecki, President of the ECR, Santiago Abascal, President of Patriots for Europe and President of VOX, and Stephen Bartulica, President of the Political Network for Values and Croatian Member of the European Parliament, among others.
