We have celebrated the presentation of the book “The Hungarian Strategy” by the political director of the Hungarian Prime Minister and president of the governing board of the Mathias Corvinus Colegium (MCC), Balázs Orbán, which has been edited and translated into Spanish by CEU Ediciones. The meeting was organized together with the Center for Fundamental Rights (CDF) and the Mathias Corvinus Colegium (MCC).

The event began with remarks by the director of CEU-CEFAS, Elio Gallego, and the director of the Madrid office of the Center for Fundamental Rights, Vajk Farkas, who presented their considerations on the Hungarian political strategy and reflected on Hungary’s roots.
The author pointed out during the presentation that the aim of his book is to make an ode to the origins of the Hungarian people. In the book he analyzes the situation of Hungary by referring to the fundamental axes of the country: history, culture, tradition and Judeo-Christian values. These being the basic starting point for understanding the Hungarian situation, Orbán has explained the strategic planning and national character of the Hungarian government since the arrival of Viktor Orbán.
With regard to Europe, the political director of the Hungarian Prime Minister stressed that “conservatives from different groups are proud of our nation and believe that belonging to it has a meaning“. This idea was echoed by the head of International Relations of CEU-CEFAS, Jorge Soley, who expressed that he “feels envious” of the Hungarian strategy of rescuing and raising the elements that make up the people.

On the other hand, the situation of the European Union and the challenges of the conservatives in it have also been addressed. In this sense, Orbán admitted that it is necessary to “reflect” on the nature of the European Union in order to be able to answer whether “Europe is a tool for the different states or an objective in itself“. He also provided his own solution to this dilemma: “If we want to save the European Union, we must restore the balance of power internally“.

Balázs Orbán was accompanied by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Spain, Ana Palacio; the director of the Center for European Studies of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (Hungary), Rodrigo Ballester; the head of International Relations of CEU- CEFAS, Jorge Soley; and the head of Studies and Training of the Disenso Foundation, Ricardo Ruiz de la Serna.
