We have held the first meeting of the Advisory Council of the CEU Institute of American Studies. The meeting was attended by the president of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation and the Catholic Association of Propagandists, Alfonso Bullón de Mendoza; the honorary director of the Royal Spanish Academy and president of the CEU Institute of American Studies, Víctor García de la Concha; the director of the Institute, Consuelo Martínez-Sicluna and its general secretary Eduardo Puig de la Bellacasa.
This first meeting was attended by some of the members of the Advisory Council: the member of the Parliament of the Congress of Peru, Adriana Tudela; the former vice-president of the Republic of Colombia, Francisco Santos; the rector of the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU, Rafael Rodríguez-Ponga; the international managing director of the Acton Institute, Alejandro Chafuen; the writer Zoé Valdés; the ambassador of Spain, Ramón Gil-Casares; the film director and producer, José Luis López-Linares; the lawyer and former vice-counselor of Educational Organization of the Community of Madrid, Carmen Pérez-Llorca; the professor of History at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, José de la Puente Burke; the opinion director of El Debate, Ramón Pérez-Maura; the deputy of the House of Representatives of Uruguay, Pablo Viana; the former minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Spain, Manuel Pimentel; and the former president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Julio Borges.
Throughout the meeting, members exchanged perspectives, ideas, and experiences to delineate the Institute’s strategic initiatives. They deliberated on the anticipated impact of the Institute and reaffirmed their dedication to furthering Hispanity.
